Garden Escape | Art Month Ambassadors event
The first Art Month Ambassadors event for 2016 took place on Thursday 21 January, at…
29 JanIn March 2016 Sullivan+Strumpf will present Sanné Mestrom’s debut solo exhibition with the gallery, Leftovers. Mestrom creates art-about-art. Her practice is reflective and addresses value, process, art history, appropriation, authorship and authenticity. The works in Leftovers are gestures - odes - to fellow artists which Mestrom has admired from a distance and whom have shaped her practice and thinking in profound ways.
She reached out to a myriad of artists - cap in hand - to ask if they
might be able to offer her some of their studio-floor scraps to undertake this
new body of works called “Leftovers”. Each rejected remnant is
imbued with new value simply by being selected - picked up off the
floor and handed over as ‘something’. They became great again - full of
potential.
