Ever wondered if you’d survive and find food if you were washed up on a desert island? In this workshop you’ll learn to use plant materials to make cordage and weave a decorative fish trap using the ancient basketry technique of twining. Included in the workshop will be discussion around the history of weaving and fish traps, preparation of materials, and demonstrations followed by one-to-one instruction. Students will learn the basketry techniques of twining and cord making, and will weave a decorative fish trap to take home.
Materials Fee: $10 extra for notes and materials to be paid to the tutor.
Materials List: Please bring secateurs, scissors, old towel.
