Garden Escape | Art Month Ambassadors event
The first Art Month Ambassadors event for 2016 took place on Thursday 21 January, at…
29 JanThe Galeries’ city retail precinct will be transformed into a
living gallery of street art for Art Month Sydney.
The Galeries’ curation aims to support emerging artists on the contemporary
scene, celebrating accessible art in a public forum.
Defying tradition, unexpected and original pieces reveal themselves
dramatically,
the existing surfaces of the space acting as canvas transformed.
The centrepiece of the Art Month experience at The Galeries is a largescale
piece “Lunar Pinwheels” by Paperform, made of eight 2.5 metre panels
hanging in an 18 metre deep void, with more than 3,000 handmade pinwheels
spinning in colourful formations.
Other artists include: Ears; Bafcat; Numskull and Apeseven; sculptor Sarah
Goffman; installation and performance artist Mark Titmarsh; performance artist
Alyssa Choat; artists and art therapists Kirana Haag and Irina Gladushchenko;
illustrators Georgia Hill, Maricor/Maricar, and Jess Cruikshank;
multidisciplinary artist Nadia Hernandez; object designer
Vincent Buret; painter Genevieve Reynolds; sculptor Dion Horstmans and
paper engineer Gunjan Aylawdi.
The art was commissioned and produced by creative agency The Artistry, for The
Galeries.
