You Are Invited

‘You Are Invited’ is a group exhibition acknowledging the creative regeneration which occurs within the visual arts industry and the role Watters Gallery has played in its growth for the last 51 years.

Artists represented by Watters Gallery were asked to invite another artist to exhibit during ArtMonth Sydney 2016.

The exhibition showcases new and emerging artists as well as established artists currently not represented.

In the 50 year anniversary book published by Watters Gallery, 2014, the writer/curator John McPhee stated:

“Over fifty years Watters Gallery has earned a reputation as being prepared to show difficult art.  Certainly when first exhibited much of what was shown was unlikely to be commercially viable, but that has never been an overriding principle determining work selected for exhibition.  A review of the gallery’s history demonstrates that enthusiasm for art, support for contemporary art, and an interest and respect for artists has determined what was shown at Watters Gallery”.
