Horse Boy

David Collins explores how ritual and role-play are shaped by the cathartic desires of our society. Using the horse as a personal motif and metaphor for the sublime, Collins engages in various performance exercises with horses, inhabiting the precarious space between control and surrender. These human-animal collaborations are analogous to experiential extremes, psychological struggles and power relationships, through which Collins proposes catharsis as a beneficial human tendency.
